First, we need to LISTEN to all our citizens, no filters, no agendas. Our people know best what will make their lives better. Welcome to the 21st century, where we all count and we all have a voice.
Second, we need to establish a business-friendly environment and mindset that is the envy of the world. Reality is, we compete ever day with other Cities, Counties, States or Countries to help grow existing businesses and attract new ones. Let’s get focused and serious about it, and WIN. Businesses create jobs. Jobs create opportunities for our families and children. We all deserve a good, prosperous life.
Third, we need to provide affordable housing for all in a safe, drug free, environment – where communities and city departments work together and listen to YOU.
Fourth, we need to promote education and grow our existing educational institutions, like our University of South Carolina Salkehatchie.
Fifth, we need to think big and do big things. That includes honoring our pastand moving into the future. Here are just a couple of examples.
- Did you know that 500 out of the 900 Tuskegee Airmen were trained in Walterboro during WWII? That automatically establishes Walterboro as a part of world aviation history. So, the question is – where is our International Tuskegee Museum? We don’t have one. Think of how many tourists would stop at “THE PLACE” to see that. Working together with Local/State/Federal officials and businesses we can get a world-renowned International Tuskegee Museum done.
- Our kids need things to do. Some I’ve talked to have been asking for a skateboard park. Why not? It is an Olympic sport after all, isn’t it?
Look, I hear how disenfranchised, disappointed or frustrated you are… that “things will never change”. That “it will always be this way”. But reality is – we live in a DEMOCRACY and YOU, the VOTER, decides. THIS TIME YOU HAVE ANOTHER OPTION FOR MAYOR, no excuses
